The venue for the laying sandalwood flowers and one of Bangkok’s royal crematorium replica sites opened this morning at 6 o’clock, to a large crowd of citizens already in attendance to make their lasting tribute to the late King. People queued to enter the convention center in a line that stretched to Thepparat Road.
Mourners entering the site had to pass through readiness and clothing inspections before being ushered into halls 98-103, each able to handle up to 1,000 people. Reports at 8:30 this morning indicated all of the halls were filled. The center is expected to accommodate up to 200,000 people today with 300,000 sandalwood flowers prepared for them.
Medical, military and volunteer units are present at the site to facilitate the attendance of so many citizens at the solemn national event.
