“Happy Lohri” India Thailand Trade!

Amidst the freezing cold weather, people of North India are all geared up to celebrate the long-awaited bonfire festival ‘Lohri’ on Monday, January 13, 2014.

People celebrate the harvest festival ‘Lohri’ by lighting bonfire outside their house in the evening. People offer prayers to the fire and throw puffed rice, til(sesame seeds), popcorn into the flame.

The festival of worshiping fire, Lohri, is observed as a festival of fertility and the day is very important for the newly wed couples and newly born babies.

On this day people singh traditional Lohri songs, wear their brightest clothes and come to dance the Bhangra and Gidda to the beat of the dhol …balle balle balle!

People also exchange greetings on this day. To greet each other on the auspicious day of Lohri, people send Lohri SMS, messages and Lohri scraps.
