Applauding and awarding the winners of the Technical Category
One of the most significant arms of movie production, the technical teams contribute to what makes or breaks a movie. A movie is only good as its screenplay, dialogues, and story. Fine cinematography, editing, sound design, and special effects can define a great final output. Similarly, good music and impactful lyrics, coupled with a powerful voice make the songs of the movie memorable. At IIFA 2018, we had a wide range of technical nominations who ensured an incredible result with their work, and we arrived at the following winners-
Tiger Zinda Hai bagged two awards in the Technical Category with the best cinematography and sound design and was followed by Rajkumar Rao-starrer Newton for best editing. The much-anticipated Jagga Jasoos was at par with three awards for best special effects, best choreography, and best background score. The other winners of Technical awards were Bareilly ki Barfi, Secret Superstar, Jab Harry met Sejal, Shubh Mangal Saavdhan, and Baadshaho.

‘EAST SIDE SUSHI’, USA | 1 Hr. 46 Mins | Directed by Anthony Lucero
With the Kind Support of the U.S. Embassy, Bangkok
FREE SCREENING, SATURDAY 23 SEPTEMBER, 3 PM
This is a unique story about multi-culturalism. It is set in America, and centers around a Mexican single mother working hard at a Japanese restaurant, learning it all, and then, wanting to become a Sushi chef there.
Juana is unfazed by challenges, and takes on various jobs to support her father and young child. She has a flair for cooking, and when she takes up a job at a Sushi restaurant, she learns the art and craft of Japanese cuisine very fast. She longs to become a ‘Sushi Chef’ of the restaurant, like the other Japanese chefs in the restaurant who train her. But the owner of the restaurant is very clear of two things- that the ‘Sushi Chef’ post is only for Japanese, and only for males. Juana is very disheartened. She partakes in a TV Sushi Competition, and wonders if that will change her life.
The heart-warming film won awards at more than nine film festivals, from a ‘Special Jury Award for Bridging Cultures’, to many ‘Audience Awards’. Its multi-cultural theme has indeed, been responsible for the film’s popularity with movie-goers from around the world.
What the Critics Said: Influx Magazine: This is a lovely little film- one that made me hungry for more. Spectrum Culture: ‘East Side Sushi ‘has warmth and charm on its side. DC Filmdom: America is a melting pot, and ‘East Side Sushi’ is one of the finer examples of how cultures come together for something totally new and fresh.
Thank you to the U.S. Embassy Bangkok, for supporting the film. There will be SUSHI from TUNA ICHIBAN restaurant, and drinks from CHANG Beverages, after the screening.
The Movie Screening will be at Room 201 (Second Floor) of River City Bangkok.
Divine Yoga Bangkok is a welcoming and beautiful sanctuary where you can cultivate physical, emotional, and spiritual harmony. It is a genuine place of excellence for traditional Satyananda and Sivananda Yoga, as well Yoga Therapy and Meditation in Bangkok. It is a welcoming and inviting space, with a very high standard of teaching. All teachers are dedicated and will welcome you into learning more about yoga.
Especially Master Sanjiv Chaturvedi (director of Divine Yoga) incorporates physical, breathing and different meditation practices in a meaningful and balanced way. He comprehensively explains the physiological and more importantly, the mental and emotional benefits of single postures, different breathing and meditation practices.
Master Sanjiv is very skilled and brings a depth of experience and understanding to the mat, which makes a practice that focuses on a balanced mind and well-being. Anyone, regardless of body type, athletic ability, age or health issues can reap the benefits of his yoga practice. His aim for all Divine Yoga students is, to cultivate a state of peace and vibrant health.
He always gives space and time on the mat to reflect on our own yoga practice. Through his teaching style, I have learned to listen to what my body is ‘telling’ me during and after class. I am more aware of what is going on in my body and have more understanding, patience, and compassion for myself and people around me.
It’s not a secret the root of many chronic ailments is stress. However, we rarely take the opportunity to just pause and relax. Taking time to relax and let go physically, mentally, and emotionally energizes and balances the entire being. It’snotaluxury,it’sanecessity!
I sometimes walk in the class moody, exhausted by day-to-day stressors, and always walk out balanced, energized and with a renewed inner happiness. It is for me the best way to start or finish the day. Saying or thinking “I don’t have time for yoga” is a total misconception.
Yogadoesn’ttaketime, itgives youtime!
Time to pause and breathe consciously.
Divine Yoga Bangkok is for me more than a yoga studio, it is a community. A community I am so grateful to have found. Students, teachers, and staff are genuine, kind hearted and there is an authentic sense of care within us. Friendships within the students evolved even off the mat and go beyond age, nationalities and different walk of lives. Master Sanjiv is teaching yoga, not only by leading sequences, he takes pride as well to introduce and welcome all his students to Indian customs, traditions, and festivities.
I wish anyone to treat themselves to a set of classes at Divine Yoga Bangkok – to experience yourself the beauty of slowing down and coming home to yourself. There is a yogic saying:
Since joining Divine Yoga Bangkok, yoga and meditation have had such a powerful, positive effect on my life I recommend it for anyone who is seeking health and well-being.
It is a place I will continue to be a small part of and hold it in great esteem with affection.🙏🙏🙏
