Thai students receive medals from invention competition

Thai students have received six medals from the International Exhibition for Young Inventors in Jakarta, Indonesia.

The Secretary-General of the Basic Education Commission said that OBEC had selected 10 inventions from students around the country for a showcase at the 10th International Exhibition for Young Inventors 2014 (IEYI 2014) in Jakarta, Indonesia.

The Shrimp Peeling Device from the Phichit Pittayakom School in Phichit received a gold medal, while two other inventions namely the ‘Gelatinous Bacterial Cellulose (GBC) process from recycled rubber processing water’, and the meatball molding machine both received silver medals.

The Secretary-General added that other inventions achieved special awards: the latex collection groove shooter from Pattani, the heat and stain resistant cloth from Nonthaburi, the helmet with fastener alarm from Songkhla, a fish feeder with a built in touch sensor from Mae Hong Son, and a motorcycle anti-theft device from Phitsanulok.

Thai students who participated in the event are expected to return to Thailand on Monday at 8:10pm.

The exhibition was held from 29th October – 2nd November 2014 with young inventors from many countries: Egypt, India, Iran, Japan, Malaysia, Philippines, Nigeria, Indonesia, Thailand, and Hong Kong. Next year’s IEYI event will be held in India. –
