Salman Khan is one of the few actors in B-town who can be proud about his films’ track record, no critic or flop has decided the fate of this star and yet there are some films that he would like to erase from his memory. Recently the Dabangg Khan was at the ETC office for an interview and an avid reader of trade magazines, Sallu seemed to chat about films and more. While he could have harped upon his recent success’ SK decided to talk about some movies that make him go red in the face. Sallu said, “When I saw Biwi Ho To Aisi, I was so embarrassed. I thought this was pack up for me. In fact, later when I met the Bihariji a few years later, he told me he saw nothing in me. He just took e in the film because I was Salim Khan’s son.”
Today, the Kick hero’s dad must feel really proud calling himself Salman Khan’s father. While many of his friends, co-stars and contemporaries have gone ga-ga about the phenomena called ‘Salman Khan’, the actor himself thinks otherwise, “The harder you work, the luckier you get. A star alone cannot break records, the film also has to be good. There have been times when we laughed our heads off while watching the films we made but then we realized that nobody laughed!”
While Sallu might have delivered several memorable films with Sooraj Barjatya, it might come as a surprise to many that the actor was never keen on working with Rajshri films and here’s why, “I was forced to go meet Sooraj Barjatya – I dint want to do a Rajshri film because the male leads of his films wore dhoti and all – I felt where did I fit in there!” The actor will soon be working with the banner on Bade Bhaiyya and if the buzz is to be believed his co-star will be none other than his arch rival’s favourite heroine Deepika Padukone.
For this Khan family comes first, its no surprise that we have often seen him make special appearances and act in his brothers and brother-in-law’s films. The actor thinks highly of his brothers who have turned filmmakers, “Arbaaz is very methodical. Both he and Sohail have the right temperament to direct films. Both find long movies boring and pakao and hence they keep their films short. The final edit of my film was over-seen by me, keeping my fans in mind. Longevity of the film matters more than the 1st day collections.”
That’s not it, he is already setting his eyes for a new box-office record and more this time around. Salman wants to make Jai Ho and exceptional films, the actor said, “Since ticket prices are so high these days, we are trying to make the film tax-free.”
Well, wishing the Jai Ho star and his star cast all the very best, and while the film’s fate will be decided this Friday when it hits the theatres. You can watch Salman Khan‘s complete interview on ETC Bollywood Business at 8.30pm!
