Public Health Permanent Secretary Dr. Narong Sahametapat has revealed that Thailand ranks 36th as the happiest country in the world — with Yasothon ranked the happiest province.

Every year, the United Nations celebrates an International Day of Happiness on March 20. The aim is to give importance to the basic goal of life — happiness. A total of 156 countries have been examined by the UN and ranked in terms of happiness accordingly.

The country ranked the happiest in the world is Denmark, whereas Thailand stands at 36th in the world, and ranks 2nd in ASEAN after Singapore. Dr. Narong went on to say that Yasothon was ranked the happiest province in Thailand.

Factors that are considered in the ranking of happiness include income, job opportunities, good relationships, community trust, values that promote happiness or religion, physical and mental health, family relationships, education, and social and sexual equality.
