Thais are now approved by the Lumbini Development Trust of Nepal and the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), to repair the Maya Dhevi Temple in Nepal.

Maya Devi Temple is an ancient Buddhist temple situated at the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Lumbini, Nepal. Khunying Sudarat Keyuraphan, chairperson of the Lumbini Development Project, signed a Memorandum of Agreement to repair and reinforce the temple building without altering its ancient uniqueness.

At present, the Maya Dhevi temple is largely ruined due to the intrusion of water which is likely to destroy the Buddha’s footprint located under the temple. Previously, a road leading to the temple was improved as was a footpath around the temple. A square for practicing Dharma in front of the Pillars of Ashoka was also renovated.

Thai people are invited to make a donation towards the renovation, during Wisa Khabucha Week to be held from 10.00 a.m.-08.00 p.m., between May 11th and 17th, at the Sanam Luang Royal Plaza, Bangkok.
