Harbhajan, Yuvraj face social media wrath for urging people to donate to Afridi’s NGO

Even as coronavirus continues to rage across the world, leaving thousands dead, people have ignored have boundaries to come together in the battle against the disease.

This was evinced when former Team India players Harbhajan Singh and Yuvraj Singh took to Twitter to urge people to contribute to Pakistani cricketer Shahid Afridi’s foundation which has been working for the underprivileged and the poor.

“The world  is passing through extremely testing and unprecedented times.Let’s do our bit to help @SAfridiOfficial @SAFoundationN doing gr8 work plz join hands with them nd contribute what ever u can,” Harbhajan Singh tweeted and invited Yuvraj Singh and Wasim Akram to take the initiative ahead.

Reacting to the tweet, Yuvraj Singh wrote: ” These are testing times, it’s time to lookout for each other specially the ones who are lesser fortunate. Lets do our bit, I am supporting @SAfridiOfficial & @SAFoundationN in this noble initiative of covid19.” In the video message, he also said  “The people are in pain. Many aren’t getting proper food as well. Like Harbhajan said, the SA Foundation in Pakistan is doing a tremendous job in helping the poor people.”

However, not everyone seemed to be moved by the gesture of these two former cricketers as a section of people on Twitter slammed them for the decision to join hands with a Pakistani player for a cause.

“Do something for your own country,” said one user.

“Not done! He runs propaganda against India and is one of the most hateful Pakistani celeb and you are supporting him,” a user reacted to Yuvraj Singh’s tweet.
