From November 10, 2023, to May 10, 2024, Thailand is welcoming Indian travelers without the need for a visa. They can stay in Thailand for up to 30 days. This visa waiver aims to attract more tourists from India and Taiwan, following a similar move made in September for Chinese nationals. Indian travelers have more good news, as Sri Lanka recently introduced visa-free entry for visitors from seven countries, including India, China, and Russia, as part of a pilot project until March 31, 2024.
After the impact of COVID-19, various countries are actively pursuing Indian tourists. In terms of tourism, India has been Thailand’s fourth largest source market this year, following Malaysia, China, and South Korea. According to Indian government data, the number of Indians traveling abroad has steadily increased, from 14 million in 2011 to a peak of 27 million in 2019.
