Marriott said Thursday that it would open Editons in New York, Abu Dhabi and Bankgkok, Thailand, and had contracts signed for hotels in Los Angeles and Gurgaon, India.
Marriott president Arne Sorenson said that the move is meant to reinvigorate efforts for Edition–a luxury lifestyle hotel brand was created in partnership with Ian Schrager–which has been bogged down by the slow economy and bedeviled by a squabble over control the Edition Waikiki.
“While the rollout of the Edition brand was slowed by the global economic downturn, we remain strongly committed to this brand and are dedicated to its continued development and success,” Sorenson said. “A number of other exciting projects are under way which we expect to announce in the coming months.”
