Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra expressed satisfaction over her successful visit to India, while insisting that a follow-up working group must be established to accelerate the progress of the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between Thailand and India.
The Thai premier disclosed that her visit to India has been very successful in tightening the ties between the two nations. Bilateral negotiations with the Indian government also saw much progress, which has prompted Ms. Yingluck to propose the establishment of a follow-up committee to focus on speeding up the achievement of the Thailand-India FTA. Once the Free Trade Agreement comes into effect, trade and investment between the two countries is expected to expand.
Prime Minister Yingluck’s visit followed an invitation by the Indian government to be Chief Guest at its Republic Day parade, which is a display of India’s military might as well as its cultural heritage.
