Rakesh Roshan, who is presently focussing all his energy on his upcoming film, Krrish 3, is already planning ahead. After the release of the superhero flick — which sees son Hrithik Roshan reprise his lead role — he’s toying with the idea of a sequel to Khoon Bhari Maang (KBM, 1988)
The woman-centric film, with Rekha in the lead, remains one of Rakesh’s big hits. He confirms, “Yes, there is a chance that after Krrish 3, I’ll make a sequel of KBM or something along the same line.”
Rakesh admits that it’s taken him some time to gather the confidence to revisit the genre after a long gap. “It came to my mind a while ago, but then I felt that maybe it’s a bit old and people have even come out with similar films after it. Now, I am contemplating making it,” he says.
KBM stars Rekha as a wealthy widow who is nearly killed by her lover; she then sets out to exact revenge. The film also has Kabir Bedi, Sonu Walia, Shatrughan Sinha and Kader Khan in pivotal roles.
It was one of Rakesh’s experimental films, which turned out to be a big success, critically and commercially. It was his second film as a director after Khudgarz (1987).
