This week’s new Bollywood release Satyagraha has done superb collection at the Indian Box Office on the first day. The Ajay Devgn, Amitabh Bachchan and Kareena Kapoor starrer has turned out to be the biggest opener in the career of filmmaker Prakash Jha, beating the opening day record of his Blockbuster movie Raajneeti.
Satyagraha opened to a fantastic response with its occupancy ranging between 70% and 80% at single screens and 50% at multiplexes in the morning and matinee shows on Friday. The movie grew steadfastly and robustly in evening and night shows. It did a record breaking collection at the Indian Box Office on its opening day.
Prakash Jha’s last superhit movie Raajneeti starring Ajay Devgn, Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif in leads, had collected Rs 10.50 crores nett at the domestic Box Office on its opening day. His latest directorial venture Satyagraha has smashed this record by raking in Rs 11.21 crores nett at Indian Box Office on its first day.
Satyagraha is a political thriller and it throws light on corruption and its effect on the people of India. Due to its theme, it has been one of the most talked about movies of the year. The makers have done massive promotion for the film. In addition, Ajay Degvn has appeared on a few TV shows to promote it.
Though it has garnered mixed reviews from the film critics, it is riding high on a powerful word of mouth, which is expected to create a magic for the movie at the Box Office over the weekend.
