A ‘unique’ study trip for engg students

Bangkok (Thailand): Thirty-five students from five engineering colleges of the JIS Group attended a two-week summer education camp at the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) in Bangkok, Thailand. The camp which took place from July 22 to August 2 was part of the ‘global study trip’ of JIS Group Educational Initiatives.

It was a very useful and practical experience for 35 students selected from the five JIS group engineering colleges who were sent by the JIS group to attend a two week long summer education camp at the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) in Bangkok, Thailand from July 22 to August 2 as part of the JIS Group Educational Initiative’s ‘global study trip’.

Based on merit, students from of the five JIS group institutes

JIS College of Engineering at Kalyani, Narula Institute of Technology at Agarpara, Guru Nanak Institute of Technology at Sodepur, Greater Kolkata College of Engineering and Management at Baruipur and Dr Sudhir Chandra Sur Degree Engineering College at Dum Dum, were selected for the trip and they had an enriching experience based on merit to attend the study trip at AIT, which is a premium management and technological institution in Asia.

Besides gaining knowledge on environmental engineering, remote sensing and GIS, nanotechnology, satellite telecommunication, marine biology and transportation systems among others, the students also visited enjoyed their bit of sightseeing. They were enamoured by their trips to

National Science Museum of Thailand, Thailand Science Park and Incubation Centre and the palace of the king of Thailand.

During the camp, the students learnt most of the things through fun game and competition and they were very much excited and full of enthusiasm.

“It was like a dream-come-true for me.The experience was very enlightening and unique,” said Abhisek Guha of Narula Institute of Technology. On the last day of the camp, students interacted with Worsak Kanok Nukulchai, the president of AIT. “We are taking such initiatives for our students so that they can compete globally,” said JIS Group assistant general manager Bidyut Majumder. The JIS Group is going to sign an MOU with AIT very soon in the areas of faculty exchange programmes, joint research collaboration and joint PhD supervision.
