Bangkok Airways has introduced four new routes from Chiang Mai to four key cities, ahead of the formation of the ASEAN Economic Community, which will start in 2015.Inaugural flights from the northern province of Chiang Mai to the four destinations: Phuket, and Udon Thani, as well as Mandalay and Yangon in Myanmar, commenced on October 26.
According to the carrier’s website, as Chiang Mai is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Thailand, attracting a large number of both Thai and foreign tourists, the company hopes that the four new routes will enhance its ability to support the expected increased demand for air travel when the AEC begins in 2015.
Bangkok Airways now operates two daily direct flights between Chiang Mai and Udon Thani and one flight daily from Chiang Mai to Phuket; it flies from Chiang Mai three times a week to Mandalay, and four times a week to Yangon. – See more at: http://thainews.prd.go.th/CenterWeb/NewsEN/NewsDetail?NT01_NewsID=WNECO5710300010003#sthash.l9muON7h.dpuf
