The Ministry of Cultures is drafting a strategic plan to transform Thailand into Asia’s hub of Asian films.
According to Permanent Secretary for Culture, Somchai Sianglai, the meeting among film-makers over the second phase of the transformation plan was focused on 8 areas which include establishing an organization that supervises film making process, improving movie production and human resources, promoting domestic and foreign film market in Thailand, stamping out pirated movies, promoting Thai films and attracting foreign film makers to the country.
The majority of participants agreed to the proposal of the strategic plan. The result of the meeting will be proposed to Culture Minister Ms Sukumol Khumpluem who will later propose to the National Film and Video Committee for considetation. Deputy Prime Minister Police General Kowit Wattana, who is the vice president of the committee, will deliberate on the draft proposal and, if approved, it will be enforced on 30 September 2011.
