Dozens of Thai vocational-technical students will join the 8th ASEAN Skills Competition (ASC) to be held from 18-23 November 2010 at the Impact Exhibition and Convention Center, Challenger Hall 1-2, Muang Thong Thani, in Nonthaburi.

Forty-two Thai students will compete in 21 skill areas against their competitors from ASEAN member countries. The skill areas include welding, information technology, web design, mechatronics, brick laying, joinery, restaurant service, beauty therapy, and more.

Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn will preside over this important event on 18 November.

Initiated in 1993 and held on a biennial basis, ASC is an activity in which the 10 ASEAN member countries can cooperate and work together at the regional level to upgrade workers’ skills to international standards, which promotes the development of vocational skills and work values among the youth and skilled workers. ASC will pave the way for work excellence and development of highly skilled workers.
