Kangana Ranaut starrer Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi continues to face obstacles in its filming stage. After Sonu Sood’s exit now actress Swati Semwal has walked out of the project. The actress gave the reason that she didn’t find her role meaty and that’s why she opted to leave the film. “After the meeting, I realised that it [the role] was not so significant anymore. It was not what we signed for when I signed the film, so we decided to part ways.” She further added, “I’m looking for performance-oriented, substantial roles. I am not stuck on lead roles, but whatever I have to do, I want it to be substantial enough and even ‘Manikarnika’ had a pretty strong character. But now I don’t think so it’s the same anymore.”
Talking about Manikarnika, the film will also mark the acting debut of Deepika Padukone s ex-boyfriend, Nihaar Pandya, where he ll portray the character of Baji Rao the second (II). It also features Jisshu Sengupta, Vaibhav Tatwawaadi and television actress, Ankita Lokhande, in pivotal roles. It is set to hit the screens on January 25 and will lock the horns with Hrithik Roshan’s Super 30 and Emraan Hashmi’s Cheat India at the box office.

Ungli, which hit the theatres yesterday (November 28), has reportedly collected a not-so-impressive amount of money. The Box Office collections for the Emraan Hashmi-starrer is quite disappointing, at about Rs.3.6 crores, according to a website. Milap Milan Zaveri, who has penned the dialogues for Ungli, spoke to us, confirming the figures.
The film, which stars an ensemble cast, opened to largely mixed reviews from critics. Apart from Hashmi, Randeep Hooda, Sanjau Dutt, Angad Bedi, Neha Dhupia, Kangana Ranaut play pivotal roles in this Rensil D’Silva creation. The first Friday Box Office reports, though predict a somewhat gloomy run at the screens, the footfall is expected to increase during the weekend. The film deals with how a gang of commoners tackle the rampant issue of corruption on the streets of Mumbai.
Kangana Ranaut was at her stylish best posing for photo-ops in a bright blue outfit at the launch of a mobile app on Wednesday in Mumbai. Basking in the glory of applauds she has been receiving for Queen, Kangana was all smiles at the event which marked the launch of Bollywood In Britain (BiB) app in the presence of several Bollywood celebrities.
The app was officially unveiled by British High Commissioner to India Sir James Bevan. The app aims at reaching out to diehard Bollywood fans and comes loaded with a map pinpointing in detail famous locations in Britain where popular Hindi films and songs have been shot.
BiB was launched by VistBritain, a public body funded by the UK’s department for culture, media and sport. The app is a free download for Android users. It offers interesting trivia on locales across Britain, besides featuring a Flip Tour which shares the latest Bollywood news. The app also allows you share photos and travel experiences on social media.Since several Bollywood films have been shot in London over the decades, the app has evoked interest among fans. London was a popular location for late film-maker Yash Chopra. Several of his productions including Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge and his last, Jab Tak Hai Jaan, were shot across various parts of the city. Quite aptly, Chopra’s wife Pamela Chopra also graced the occasion and received an award on behalf of her late husband.
Abhay Deol, Boman Irani, Swara Bhaskar, Tara Sharma, Madhur Bhandarkar and Anusha Dandekar were among other guests present at the app launch.
“Hum Ladkiyaan to waha India me kisi ke aage dakaar bhi nahi le sakti” (We cant even burp aloud in front of anyone in India)
The female protagonist of Queen conveys this very basic nuisance of society with an extreme ease and conviction. From being rejected just a day before her nuptials,to a totally free ‘RANI’ ,Kangana Ranaut has given a world class act!! Its an inspiring, thought provoking, and mind boggling flick which deserves all the accolades from all the sections of society!! Her journey from Rajouri to Amsterdam , her chutzpah , her zeal, her avatar from being de-glam to an understand clothing one, and above all her substantial confidence in herself , all these lead her to free herself from those shackles of conventional notions!! Be it her ‘drunken’ act, Santa Banta jokes, buying “gifts” for all, Kangana has given what her contemporaries could just think of in dreams!! Trust me, I had a constant smile throughout those 144 minutes

From veteran Asha Bhosle’s “Maine Hoto se lagayi to” to today’s gem Amit Trivedi’s “London Thumakda”, “Badra Barse” the music go pretty well with the mood of the movie!!
Queen Movie Review : Direction
Vikas Behl needs special mention for his impeccable direction. The story which could have been easily messed up is driven beautifully by the director.
