Don Mueang celebrates its 100th year in service

The Airport Authority of Thailand this year organized an event to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the foundation of Don Mueang, Thailand’s first international airport.

The event, 100 years of 100 millions Happiness at Don Mueang International Airport was held on Saturday 8th March. The aim of the event was to promote the new face of Don Meuang airport to local and foreign travellers.

Flying Officer Chaturongkapon Sodmanee, chief of Don Mueang airport said the airport expected to serve around 18 million passengers in 2014. There will be several new airlines starting their service here this year such as Thai Air Asia X, NokScoot Airlines and Lao Central Air.

In the first two months of this year, more than three million passengers accessed Don Meuang airport. During 2015 and 2016, the airport, one of the world’s oldest, will be expanded to be able to handle more than 39 million passengers a year.
