The Ministry of Public Health is gearing up to provide medical treatment to those injured during clashes in Bangkok.

Health Minister Dr. Pradit Sinthawanarong said that medical rescue teams and mobile medical units are set to deliver patients to major hospitals which include Lerdsin, Rajavithi and Nopparattana Ratchathani.

Hospitals under the ministry’s supervision have been urged to prepare spare beds for new inbound patients during February 18-20 as the Center for Maintaining Peace and Order carries out an operation to clear major occupied sites in the capital.

Regional hospitals and medical units are poised to send in more personnel if the death and injury toll rises much higher.

The army earlier sent medical staff to aid anti-government protesters who had been injured in Tuesday’s clash with riot police at Phan Fah bridge. Five companies of soldiers were also deployed around Government House and anti-government rally sites, to closely monitor the situation and prevent violence.
