Industry Minister: Indians keen on investing in Thailand

The Ministry of Industry has indicated that a large number of investors have shown interest in investing in Thailand.

Industry Minister M.R. Phongsawat Svastiwat has disclosed that while accompanying Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra on her official visit to India, he was approached by many Indian investors for information regarding possible investments in Thailand; one among whom was a leading investor in the chemical industry who was enthusiastic and planning to invest over five billion baht in Thailand’s polyester industry. He has also planned to visit Thailand soon to discuss details of the investment.

Additionally, the Board of Investment of Thailand (BOI) has prepared to set up an Investment Promotion Office in the Indian city of Mumbai with aims to attract more Indian investors to Thailand. The project has already been approved by the Foreign Ministry, and will be carried out under a budget of THB 12 million.

Mumbai has been chosen as the location of the new Investment Promotion Office due to its status as an important business center of India.
